How Can I Reduce my Pore Size?

Many people go through life with large pores. Although there is no permanent “cure” for large pores, did you know there are many ways to improve them? It turns out that there is a wide range of effective treatments on the market that reduce the appearance of the size of your pores, giving you beautiful, glowing skin.

Laser-based techniques and chemical peels can both have a profound effect, helping to make your complexion more even while healing some of the damaging effects of aging and exposure to sunlight.

Pore Reducing Treatments

Pore reduction therapies have progressed significantly in recent years. New types of lasers and peels have hit the market, promising significant results. Here are some of the options available from Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi and the team here at Capital Laser & Skin Care.

HALO™ Hybrid Fractional Laser

HALO™ Hybrid Fractional Laser is a unique laser treatment that combines both ablative (skin-removing) and non-ablative action to even skin texture and fight the signs of aging. Its dual-action addresses common issues such as enlarged pores in a single session, penetrating deep into the dermis to target specific layers in the skin. Afterward, patients get a HALO™ “glow” – perfect for special occasions.

Clear + Brilliant®

Clear + Brilliant® is another laser-based treatment shown to help reduce large, conspicuous pores. Dr. Tanzi and her team of expert providers uses this non-invasive gentle laser in a series of treatments to help reduce the signs of aging and the effects of UV light. Most patients notice a significant reduction in their pores size plus tighter, firmer, more youthful-looking skin. Easy maintenance treatments are required to keep the skin looking more refined.

Fraxel® Dual

Fraxel® Dual is one of the most advanced non-ablative laser resurfacing devices on the market. The procedure targets specific layers in the skin, heating cells to encourage the production of collagen. In the days and weeks following treatment, patients typically notice improvements in skin quality and firmness, as well as a reduction in the appearance of the size of their pores.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels benefit the skin in multiple ways, including improving the appearance of pore size. Dr. Tanzi and the team at Capital Laser & Skin Care offer various chemical peels, including glycolic acid, PCA Ultra Peel®, Vitalize® (which uses a combination of lactic, salicylic and retinoic acid), and trichloroacetic acid. The type of chemical peel recommended is customized to skin type to achieve the best results.

Am I a Candidate for Pore Reducing Treatments?

If you have enlarged pores and other aging signs, you might be a good candidate for pore reducing treatments. It is important to note that pore-reducing treatments do not have permanent results. Lasers and chemical peels are generally considered safe and effective. Both come with recovery time, ranging from a couple of days to several weeks depending on the depth of treatment.

Capital laser and skin care is the best dermatology practice I’ve ever been to. I’ve seen both Dr. Peters and Dr. Tanzi, who are both extremely intelligent, caring, highly skilled, practical – and gorgeous! The staff is excellent – very caring, skilled, excellent training, professional, and easy to talk to. I highly recommend Capital Laser to anyone seeking to take fabulous care of their skin. You will be in the best hands here.
