Using CryoModulation™ technology, GlacialRx® treats age spots, controls inflammation, and decreases redness.

What is GlacialRx®

GlacialRx® uses cooling to treat age spots, sun spots, and other pigmentation problems. At the same time, the gentle treatment calms inflammation and decreases redness. This can benefit a variety of skin conditions, including rosacea and inflammatory skin concerns, like melasma.

How does GlacialRx® Work?

Age spots and sun spots result from clusters of melanocytes, cells that produce melanin. This pigment gives skin and hair their normal color, but in age spots, too many melanocytes produce pigment in the same place. This abnormal but harmless clustering often results from sun exposure, although age spots may develop in many places.

GlacialRx® targets melanin production by freezing the melanocytes. This process is not permanent, since the goal is not to injure these cells, but to make them stop over-producing melanin. The cells that replace older, pigmented ones will look softer, more even, and with a normal skin tone. GlacialRx® can treat age spots almost anywhere on the body.

What is a GlacialRx® Treatment Like?

The wand moves over the skin, treating each section for about 15 seconds before moving on. The entire treatment takes about 45 minutes, depending on how many age spots you have treated. The treatment feels cooling and refreshing, and most people experience no discomfort. Some find the treatment soothing, especially for inflamed skin.

What Results Will I See With GlacialRx®?

Over the next month, the body will shed the treated melanocytes and new, normal ones will rise up to replace them. Their melanin production has stopped as a result of the cooling process. The cells will eventually start to over-produce melanin again, but you can have GlacialRx® treatment safely as many times as needed to maintain your results. How long your results last will depend to some extent on how well you protect your skin from the sun. Wear sunscreen and avoid sun exposure to extend your results and cut down on the number of repeat treatments needed.

Am I a Good Candidate for GlacialRx®?

Most people make good candidates for this gentle, painless treatment. If you have a medical condition that makes you sensitive to cold, make sure to discuss this during your consultation. Most skin types and tones can be treated. If you have age spots, redness, pigmentation, or inflammation, you may be a candidate for GlacialRx®.

Is There Any Downtime with GlacialRx®?

You can go back to your normal activities after treatment. You may notice some redness in the treated area for a day or two, and some people see a darkening of their age spots. This will fade on its own as the over-pigmented skin sheds away.Â
