Chemical peels are an effective, customizable way to refresh and improve your skin. Chemical peels come in a range of formulas to target different skin concerns. Capital Laser & Skin Care offers several types of peels to meet your needs and fit into your lifestyle.

What are Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels are treatments applied to the face and left on for a specified time. Most peels use acids that break the bonds between dull, lifeless layers of skin cells. These old, damaged cells wash away with the peel, leaving bright, rejuvenated skin. The strength of the acid and the time the peel stays on affect how deeply it acts on the skin.

How Long Do Chemical Peels Take?

Timing plays an essential role in how well your peel works. Your Capital Laser & Skin Care expert will choose a peel for you and leave it on for the appropriate amount of time based on your unique skin condition and goals. A customized approach to chemical peels will deliver the best results. The length of time the peel is on the skin will range from a few minutes to even a few hours.

What Types of Chemical Peels are Available?

Chemical peels range from light to deep, and each level works best for different skin concerns. We offer multiple peel options to meet your individual needs.

Light Peel

These peels brighten and refresh the skin by removing dull, damaged outer layers. Since they only remove the outermost layers of skin, they require no downtime. You can have one every two to five weeks to see progressively smoother, clearer skin

Medium Peel

A medium peel removes the outer layers and part of the middle layer of the skin, allowing it to treat deeper lines, wrinkles, and textural issues. You should wait three to nine weeks between medium peels. Results improve with each treatment.

Deep Peel

This peel works deep into the skin to remove even significant signs of aging. It can even remove some precancerous growths. You will only have one deep peel, and you can expect the results to last for many years. Only board-certified dermatologists should administer these powerful peels. Dr. Elizabeth Tanzi, Dr. Geeta Shah, and Dr. Tania Peters at Capital Laser & Skin Care are all board-certified dermatologists with years of experience.

Is There Any Downtime After a Chemical Peel?

Downtime after a chemical peel varies depending on the intensity of the peel. Light peels have little to no downtime, though you may experience some minor redness or peeling. Medium peels may cause more intense redness, swelling, and flaking for several days. Deep peels have a recovery time of up to two weeks. We will work with you to find the best balance between results and recovery time that works for your lifestyle.
