What is Ellacor®?
Ellacor® is an innovative skin-tightening treatment that uses Micro-Coring™ technology to stimulate your body’s natural healing response. It is FDA-cleared to treat wrinkles on the mid and lower face and can be used to tighten skin that has lost elasticity with age.
How Does Ellacor® Work for Skin Tightening?
As we age, our bodies naturally produce less collagen and elastin. This leads to loose, sagging skin, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. One of the ways Ellacor® tightens skin is by increasing collagen production.
The Ellacor® Micro-Coring™ technology uses tiny, hollow needles to puncture the skin and remove thousands of microcores. The skin immediately begins healing these micro-wounds, stimulating new collagen and elastin production.
This collagen-inducing treatment is similar to microneedling, but Ellacor® takes it a step further. As the microcores are removed, the skin pulls together to seal the punctures. This naturally lifts and tightens the skin for a smoother, firmer appearance.
What are Ellacor® Treatments Like?
Before your Ellacor® treatment at Capital Laser, we will apply a topical numbing cream to ensure your comfort. We will then move the Ellacor® device over your face, during which you may feel some tingling but no pain. The hollow needles are less than .5 mm, creating tiny punctures that will begin healing immediately and won’t scar.
What to Expect After Ellacor®
Since it creates micro-wounds in your skin, an Ellacor® treatment requires some recovery. You can expect to take about three days of downtime. Your skin will likely be a little red, sore, and swollen during this time. We’ll advise you on aftercare for optimal healing, such as using a gentle cleanser and avoiding makeup for about a week.
Your results will develop gradually as your skin heals and creates new collagen. Initial results become visible within a few weeks, and most patients need two or three treatments for the best outcome. You can expect long-lasting improvements to your skin with Ellacor®. However, your skin will continue to age and lose collagen, so we may recommend occasional maintenance sessions to preserve your results.
Am I a Good Candidate for Ellacor® Skin Tightening?
If you have skin laxity and wrinkles around your lower face, Ellacor® may be the perfect treatment to rejuvenate your appearance. One of our board-certified dermatologists will assess your skin and discuss your goals during a consultation to create a customized treatment plan. We may not recommend Ellacor® if you are pregnant or nursing, have a history of forming raised scars or have an active skin condition.
