You may be considering body sculpting treatments if you have stubborn fat that hasn’t budged despite diet and exercise. Many patients turn to CoolSculpting® or CoolMini. So what’s the difference between these two devices?
What is CoolSculpting®?
CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive and FDA-cleared body contouring procedure designed to reduce stubborn fat in targeted areas. This innovative treatment uses cryolipolysis, which freezes fat cells, causing them to break down and be gradually eliminated by the body’s natural processes. At Capital Laser & Skin Care, CoolSculpting® is one of our multiple body sculpting options to help you achieve a slim, contoured figure.Â
How are CoolSculpting® and CoolMini Different?
There are multiple unique CoolSculpting® applicators, depending on which body part is being treated. For small treatment areas like a double chin, we may use CoolMini. Our board-certified surgeons also offer treatment with CoolSculpting® Elite or DualSculpting to treat two areas simultaneously.
No matter which CoolSculpting® applicator is used for your treatment, it will feature the same innovative technology to target and crystalize unwanted fat cells. The only difference between CoolSculpting® and CoolMini is the size and shape of the applicator.Â
Benefits of CoolSculpting®
Whether you choose CoolSculpting® Elite to treat multiple large areas or CoolMini to target submental fat, CoolSculpting® offers several benefits over other body sculpting treatments. Many patients turn to CoolSculpting® as a safer, more convenient alternative to surgical options like liposuction.Â
Benefits of CoolSculpting® include:
- Non-invasive, quick, and easy. There are no needles or incisions with CoolSculpting®. We’ll simply apply the chosen CoolSculpting® applicator to your treatment areas, and you can read, use your phone, or even take a nap while the device freezes your unwanted fat.
- Little to no downtime. Unlike invasive procedures like liposuction, CoolSculpting® requires very little recovery, if any. You may have mild swelling and soreness in the treatment area, but you can resume your normal activities immediately.
- Long-lasting results. Once CoolSculpting® freezes your unwanted fat cells, and your body filters them out, they’re gone for good. CoolSculpting® results are typically permanent as long as you maintain a stable weight.
Should I get CoolSculpting® or CoolMini?
Choosing between CoolSculpting® Elite or CoolMini depends on what part of your body you want to treat. CoolSculpting® Elite is best for large areas, such as the abdomen or thighs, while CoolMini is ideal for a double chin, knee fat, or other small fat pockets. You may be treated with both applicators if needed.
Our board-certified dermatologists can help you determine which applicator to choose during a detailed consultation. Dr. Tanzi, Dr. Shah, or Dr. Peters will evaluate your areas of concern and discuss your goals to create a personalized body sculpting treatment plan. Ideal candidates for CoolSculpting® treatments should be healthy and with a BMI of 30 or less.
