Most women have some amount of cellulite. If you want to get rid of your cellulite, you have a new option. The FDA has approved Qwo®, the first injectable treatment for moderate to severe cellulite in women’s buttocks. Qwo® works differently than any other treatment by addressing the underlying causes of cellulite.

What is Qwo®?

With different methods of cellulite removal available, what makes Qwo® special? Qwo® is minimally invasive and more effective than most other cellulite treatments. It works by releasing the skin in dimpled areas and helping to redistribute fat. You will see smoother, more even skin with a series of treatments.

What Causes Cellulite?

Many people believe that cellulite comes from a lack of diet and exercise. Your lifestyle can be a factor in developing cellulite, but even women with very little body fat can develop cellulite. Heredity plays a strong role, so cellulite runs in families. Thin skin can also predispose you to cellulite.

The dimpled and uneven appearance of cellulite comes from fibrous collagen bands called septae. These bands can become attached to the skin, pulling it down and resulting in dimples. This can also push the fat cells upward, causing them to bulge between the septa.

How Does Qwo® Work?

Using enzymes called collagenases, Qwo® breaks down the fibrous collagen bands. This releases the skin, so the dimple disappears. Qwo® also helps redistribute the fat in the treated area to make it more evenly distributed and smoother-looking. Qwo® does not remove fat, so you keep your natural buttock shape and do not lose any volume.

How Many Qwo® Treatments Will I Need?

Most people need more than one treatment to get the best results from Qwo®. We recommend a series of three treatments spread three to four months apart. You can have more than one area treated during each session.

What Results Will I See With Qwo®?

Your results will become visible about three weeks after your first treatment. They will continue to improve for several weeks after your last treatment. The fibrous bands that Qwo® releases will not come back, so you can expect your improvements to last for many years. Dimples will disappear as the skin relaxes, and the uneven appearance will become smoother as the fat distributes more evenly.

Is There Any Downtime with Qwo®?

You will not have any downtime with Qwo®. You may have some soreness, bruising, and swelling in the treated areas. You may also develop areas of hardness under the skin. This is normal and will go away by itself within a few weeks.

Am I a Good Candidate for Qwo®?

If you are a woman with moderate to severe buttock cellulite, you may be a good candidate for Qwo®. You should not have Qwo® if you have ever had a reaction to collagenase or if you have an infection in the treatment area.

I was very happy with the service at capital laser and skin care for cool sculpting on my arms. All the staff is very professional and made my treatment comfortable. The results from the first treatment motivated me to lose more weight and lead a healthier lifestyle. It almost felt like a spa day, highly recommended.
