At Capital Laser & Skin Care, we use radiofrequency (RF) microneedling to treat skin conditions such as sun damage, lines, and wrinkles. What is radiofrequency microneedling treatment like? Find out more about this minimally invasive treatment.Â
How Does Radiofrequency Microneedling Work?Â
Drs. Shah, Tanzi and Peters use a handheld device with a tip that comes with several tiny, fine needles. The micro-needles penetrate the skin’s surface to cause micro-injuries. RF energy is then transmitted from the needles to the areas of micro-injury, penetrating deeper layers of the skin. Â
While microneedling by itself can have numerous benefits, RF microneedling triggers a more potent healing response from the skin with RF energy. Overall collagen production is boosted, helping to rejuvenate the skin for a youthful, firmer appearance.Â
What are the Benefits of RF Microneedling?Â
Because RF microneedling is a dual treatment that creates a stronger collagen response, it has several benefits:Â
-
- Smoother, more even skin texture
- Minimizes poresÂ
- Fades acne and other types of scarring
- More youthful, radiant skin tone
- Firms the skin for fewer lines and wrinkles
What is a RF Microneedling Treatment Like?
If you get an RF microneedling treatment from Capital Laser & Skin Care, one of our providers may apply a topical numbing cream or suggest nitrous oxide to lessen discomfort. During treatment, you may feel light pressure or a tingling sensation. Our providers use the Lutronic Geniusâ„¢ microneedling system, a handheld device that your provider will control for the most precise treatment available.
Is There Any Downtime For RF Microneedling?Â
You may see redness on the treated skin similar to a mild sunburn – this goes away after 2-3 days. After your RF microneedling treatment, you may go home and resume your normal routine. We highly recommend wearing sunscreen and keeping your skin away from sun exposure to prevent skin damage.Â
Am I a Good Candidate For RF Microneedling?Â
Regardless of skin type or tone, almost anyone can receive RF microneedling treatment. If you have mild to moderate signs of aging that you want to address, you may be a good candidate for RF microneedling. If you are currently pregnant, have a skin rash, or take certain acne medications, you may not be a good candidate for RF microneedling.Â
