CoolSculpting® Overview

CoolSculpting® is a non-invasive fat reduction procedure available at Capital Laser & Skin Care. It works by crystallizing fat under the skin, preparing it for the body to remove it over time.

Treatment begins with one of our team preparing the area you wish to treat and then placing it inside the CoolSculpting® applicator. This device chills the tissues inside down to the freezing point of fat, causing fat cells to become inactive.

Following treatment, the body naturally eliminates crystallized fat cells, shuttling to the liver for decommissioning. Once CoolSculpting® eliminates fat cells, they cannot return, making it one of the most potent fat reduction systems currently available.

FDA-Approved CoolSculpting® Treatment Areas

The FDA regulates where on the body cosmetic surgeons can apply CoolSculpting® applicators. Currently, the list of FDA-cleared body parts includes:

  • Under the chin (sometimes called the submental areas)
  • Under the jawline (also called the submandibular area)
  • Around the jaw area
  • Thighs
  • Flanks
  • Abdomen
  • Bra fat (pockets of stubborn fat that can appear along the bra straps on the back)
  • The area underneath the buttocks (sometimes called the “banana roll”)
  • Upper arms
  • Back

Drs. Shah, Tanzi and Peters can advise you on which areas to use CoolSculpting®. They can also arrange for you to get treatment on multiple areas during a single session.

Patients typically see benefits after a single session. However, to maximize results, most require multiple sessions, spaced several weeks apart.

Benefits of CoolSculpting® Treatments

Getting CoolSculpting® at Capital Laser & Skin Care offers a range of tantalizing benefits.

Remove stubborn fat

Sometimes, no amount of diet or exercise will remove stubborn fat on your body. But with CoolSculpting®, no effort is required. The treatment lets you achieve your ideal physique faster, without so much relentless hard work.

Non-invasive

CoolSculpting® is also wholly non-invasive because it does not require any puncturing of the skin.

Few side effects

Some patients may experience some mild redness for a couple of weeks after treatment. However, because CoolSculpting® leaves skin and muscle cells untouched, it does not create significant trauma in the body, reducing discomfort and speeding recovery.

No downtime

After CoolSculpting®, your body simply processes the crystallized fat cells over the following weeks.

Substantial reductions in fat

Clinical trials suggest that CoolSculpting® reduces fat volume in targeted tissues by up to 25 percent after a single session, producing dramatic, visible results.
