Sun Damage Treatments

Over the years, researchers, clinicians, and cosmetic surgeons have developed a range of sun damage treatments, designed to reverse sun damage.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels involve the application of acidic compounds to the face to encourage cell renewal. Dr. Tanzi and the team apply the peel to your skin and then allow it to do its work for a set time before removing it at the end of the treatment session.

The peel causes skin cells to activate their latent rejuvenation potential, forcing them to behave more youthfully, correcting the damage done by the sun to their DNA and other internal structures. Initially, your face looks red. However, over time, the inflammation subsides, the skin revitalizes, and looks fresher.

Laser Treatments

At Capital Laser & Skin Care, we offer several laser treatments for sun damage. Two of our most popular are the Halo™ Hybrid Fractional Laser and Forever Young BBL™.

Halo™ uses a dual-wavelength laser that targets multiple layers of skin, improving on previous-generation lasers that only focused on specific cross-sections of the dermis.

Forever Young BBLâ„¢ uses broadband light to activate capillaries under the skin and stimulate collagen production, helping sun-damaged cells to rejuvenate.

RF Microneedling

Lastly, RF or radiofrequency microneedling is a sun damage-reversal therapy that combines regular microneedling with pulses of radio frequency to stimulate collagen growth. Dr. Tanzi applies the sophisticated treatment tip to deliver precise radiofrequency energy down the gold-tipped needles. Like the other treatments, this process activates your cells’ stress response machinery, priming them to reverse the damage done by ultraviolet light.

Benefits of Sun Damage Treatments

Sun damage treatments come with a host of benefits.

  • Non-invasive: All the treatments outlined above are entirely non-invasive ways to improve the quality of your skin. None involve any scalpels, stitching, or removal of tissue.
  • Activates the skin’s latent youthfulness: All the skin cells in your body have the capacity to return to a youthful state under the right conditions. RF microneedling, laser treatments, and chemical peels provide the incentives cells need to do a little housekeeping. Thus, these cosmetic interventions don’t just make the skin look younger – they actually turn back the clock.
  • Long-lasting results: The results from chemical peels, RF microneedling, and laser treatments typically last many months to years depending on the treatment performed.

Minimal downtime: After any of these sun damage-reversal treatments, you can return to your regular activities immediately or within a few days depending on the type of treatment.
