There are many reasons people want to add volume to their facial features and many types of dermal fillers to help. Juvederm® fillers are one of the most widely used types, addressing lines, wrinkles, and volume loss almost anywhere on the face. These fillers take only minutes to inject and can last a year or more, depending on the type.
What are Juvederm® Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are compounds designed for injection into the skin to add volume, either directly or by increasing collagen production. Juvederm® is a family of fillers that use hyaluronic acid, a compound that also occurs naturally throughout your body. Hyaluronic acid can bind water molecules, holding them within the skin to plump and hydrate it.
How Long Do Juvederm® Fillers Last?
Each Juvederm® filler is designed for use in a different area, and as a result, they have different formulations. More viscous fillers hold up better in areas like the cheeks, while more fluid ones offer flexibility in areas like the lips.
Juvederm® Vollure
This filler treats lines and wrinkles, especially the ones occurring around the sides of the nose and mouth. Juvederm® Vollure can last up to 18 months.
Juvederm® Voluma
This cheek filler is one of the most resilient members of the Juvederm® family and is used to restore and sculpt the cheeks. It can last up to two years.
Juvederm® Volbella
This flexible filler is used to add natural-looking volume to the lips or smooth vertical lines around the mouth. Its lifespan is about one year.
Juvederm® Ultra
This lip filler can be used instead of Juvederm® Volbella for a slightly different look. Like most lip fillers, which are soft and flexible, it lasts about one year.
Is There Any Downtime After Dermal Fillers?
Dermal filler injections can take as little as 15 minutes. You may experience minor swelling, bruising, or sensitivity in the area for up to a few days. You can return to work or other activities immediately with no downtime, making Juvederm® easy to fit into active schedules. Your results will be visible immediately but may adjust for a day or two as any swelling resolves.
Am I a Good Candidate for Juvederm® Fillers?
Because your skin recognizes hyaluronic acid as a normal component, it makes a very safe dermal filler that almost anyone can use. Good candidates for Juvederm® fillers are healthy adults with reasonable expectations who want to address concerns with volume loss, lines and wrinkles, or lack of facial definition.
You should not have dermal filler injections in an area where you have an active skin condition or infection. Juvederm® fillers are not recommended if you are pregnant or have certain medical conditions. Depending on your needs, your expert injector may recommend another type of filler instead.
