What is the BBL® HERO™ Laser?
The BBL® HERO™ is a type of laser skin rejuvenation. Unlike other lasers, which use a single targeted wavelength, a BBL laser uses broadband light that contains wavelengths across the spectrum. As a result, it has abilities other lasers do not offer, including the ability to treat redness and brown spots and trigger skin renewal.
How Does the BBL® HERO™ Work?
Your BBL® HERO™ treatment will usually take about 30 minutes, and most people report feeling minor warmth or a sensation similar to a rubber band snapped on the skin with each pulse. An advanced cooling system prevents your skin from feeling discomfort.
During a BBL® HERO™ treatment, the broadband wavelengths target red and brown pigmentation, including sun damage, freckles, and visible facial veins. The light energy also triggers cells in the deeper layers of your skin to move healthy, fresh cells to the surface, shedding older, damaged layers.
How Long Do BBL® HERO™ Results Last?
We usually recommend a series of BBL® HERO™ sessions, spaced a few weeks apart, to see your best results. Most people will start to see improvements within a week or two as pigmented areas fade and the skin looks more even. Textural issues will continue to improve for up to a few months.
We recommend a BBL laser treatment every year to maintain your results. While BBL® HERO™ can turn back the clock on your lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging, it cannot stop them from recurring. Yearly maintenance sessions allow you to keep your skin youthful and vibrant, seeming to defy the aging process.
Is There Any Downtime After a BBL® HERO™ Treatment?
Depending on the intensity of your BBL laser treatment, you may experience redness and minor swelling lasting from a few hours to a few days. If you have a lot of sunspots, there can be “peppering” of the skin for several days. While there is no downtime required, you should avoid exposing the treated area to the sun and wear sunscreen following treatment. Follow all instructions given by your BBL® HERO™ expert provider.
Am I a Good Candidate for BBL® HERO™?
The advanced BBL® HERO™ is safe and effective for most people, although it is typically recommended for lighter skin tones. This non-invasive treatment works for men and women of any age. Good candidates should have reasonable expectations and no serious skin conditions in the treatment area.
People with certain medical conditions should not have BBL laser treatments, so we will review your health history to ensure we choose the treatment option that works safely and effectively for your unique skin.
