How Does It Work?
The science behind CoolSculpting was actually developed by scientists at Harvard University. During the procedure the technician will apply a gel pad and applicator to the treatment area which uses vacuum technology to gently pull the skin in. The controlled cooling process begins, effectively crystalizing the fat cells beneath the skin. The entire process takes about 1 hour, but can vary depending on the number of treatment areas. Once the fat cells are frozen, they die and are then eliminated through the body’s natural waste process over time. CoolSculpting can be used on various areas of the body including:
Is There Any Downtime?
CoolSculpting has become a widely popular treatment for those who have trouble losing stubborn body fat. The results aren’t the only benefit to CoolSculpting, the entire treatment is non-surgical so patients can return to their day-to-day schedule following the procedure. Following treatment, patients may experience redness, swelling, bruising or skin sensitivity in the treatment area, these side effects are normal and usually subside within a week.
*Individual results may vary*
When Should I Expect to See Results?
One of the other benefits of CoolSculpting is the treatment is completely tailored to the patient’s needs. Patients may only need 1 treatment, but often a series of treatments is recommended for optimal results. Patients will start to see improvement in the treatment area in the weeks following treatment, though ideal results are noticeable within 3-6 months. It’s important to note that CoolSculpting results can be maintained through healthy diet and exercise, but the treatment cannot prevent the formation of new fat cells.
