Accure Laser for Acne
Are you struggling to find an effective acne treatment or tired of the side effects of your current ones? The Accure laser is a unique acne treatment option that has been FDA-cleared to reduce the frequency and severity of acne breakouts significantly.
At Capital Laser & Skin Care, our goal is to help you achieve clear, healthy-looking skin. This revolutionary treatment not only clears acne but prevents the development of future scars and hyperpigmentation. We’ll review your goals and determine whether Accure is the best choice for you.
What is the Accure Laser for Acne?
Accure is an FDA-cleared laser treatment that uses a focused 1726nm wavelength to target the sebaceous glands that produce oil in your skin. This noninvasive treatment transfers heat energy to the sebaceous glands without harming the skin, deactivating the glands and greatly limiting oil production. As a result, you will experience a reduction in:
- Whiteheads and blackheads
- Pimples
- Pustules
- Deep cystic acne
At Capital Laser & Skin Care, we offer Accure alone or as part of a comprehensive acne management plan. We may recommend other treatments, including the Fraxel® Dual Laser or radiofrequency microneedling for acne scars and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
What is the Accure Procedure Like?
Our laser treatments are performed by board-certified dermatologists who will carefully assess your skin before beginning treatment. They will apply a topical numbing cream and allow it to take effect before moving the handpiece over your skin. Many people report that each pulse of the laser feels like the snap of a rubber band but is easily tolerable.
Treatment can take 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the areas being treated and the intensity of your session. Your dermatologist will monitor your comfort level throughout treatment and customize the intensity for your needs.
What Results Can I Expect With the Accure Laser?
Your sebaceous glands will decrease their production in the weeks following your first treatment session, with some people seeing a decrease in acne within about a month. Most people need a series of four treatments spaced one month apart to see their best results.
Most people see a 70% to 80% reduction in acne within about three months of treatment, and the majority are still enjoying the same results after one year. Results are long-lasting, although you may benefit from a maintenance session in the future.
What is Recovery Like After the Accure Laser?
You may notice that your skin looks red or flushed after treatment, and you may experience minor sensitivity or swelling. These effects fade within 24 to 48 hours. While there is no downtime required, it’s important to wear sunscreen and avoid sun exposure after any laser treatment. Your dermatologist may provide you with other instructions.
Am I a Good Candidate for the Accure Laser for Acne?
Almost anyone struggling with hard-to-treat acne can benefit from Accure. This effective laser treatment is safe for all skin types and tones, and it can be used on adolescents and adults. Good candidates have reasonable expectations and are generally healthy. You may not be a good candidate if you have certain medical conditions.
